Melbourne (Part 1).

Over the New Year break, I visited Melbourne for five days. This was my first visit to the city about which I had heard so much praise; after all, Melbourne consistently ranks among the best cities in the world to visit and live in.

By sheer luck, I avoided the smoke from the ongoing terrible wildfires in Victoria, which blanketed the city only the day after I returned to New Zealand. My thoughts are with those who have died, have lost homes and continued to be affected across Australia.

My short stay gave me a taste of the famously erratic Melburnian weather, which peaked at 43 on our first day and dipped into the high teens overnight.

This first collection of photos feature the Anglican Cathedral of St Paul, the gigantic Central/Emporium CBD mall, some street artwork (lots more to come) and views from the Eureka tower’s Skydeck.
